Demond is a dynamic higher education professional with over three years of progressive leadership. He's currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a focus on advancing leadership in higher education in the public sector. He's proud of his proven expertise in program coordination, student success initiatives, outreach strategy, and cross-sector partnership development. Demond has demonstrated his ability to design and implement high-impact programs throughout his career that have shown to improve student access, persistence, and completion.

 

Additionally, he's skilled in data-informed decision-making, strategic planning, and operational leadership. Demond is committed to advancing equity, guided pathways, and student-centered practices that support seamless transitions from K–12 to postsecondary education.

As if that wasn't enough, Demond is also a youth development and outreach professional from Kalamazoo, Michigan, with experience in educational programming, student support, and community engagement. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Western Michigan University, where he is also pursuing a Master of Public Administration.

Prior to GVSU, Demond developed and led outreach initiatives supporting students from middle school through postsecondary education at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. His work has included coordinating educational programming, providing academic support and case management, and collaborating with schools, families, and community partners to expand access to resources and opportunities. He has facilitated presentations, organized workshops, and led student engagement efforts designed to promote persistence and long-term success.

 

He is also a certified FAFSA Specialist through MCAN/uAspire, helping students and families navigate the financial aid process.
